Steven fawcett or foz to most who know him is a dj from central Scotland, first started out collecting vinyl in the very early 90’s before taking the leap to buy turntables In 1994 after watching footage from a rezerection event.
Starting out playing any and all types of rave inspired tunes, anything from bouncy techno, happy hardcore through to gabba.
By mid 96′ after checking out a mix tape of Jeremy Healy that a friend had given him his love of house music was born, after spending a couple years in the bedroom learning he picked up his first residency at a local club in late 1998 doing their Saturday nights, this was real learning process, putting his spin on things while learning to read crowds, playing various styles of music from house and dance to old school dance classics and trance.
After nearly 3 years as resident the club unfortunately changed hands and closed,.
Seeing a poster for a local dj comp in a neighbouring town he entered making the semi finals but gaining the chance to play in bigger clubs in Glasgow, being offered a chance to play warm ups to cajmere, dave angel, Phil kieran among others, while not being a techno dj or techno music fan Steven sought to find a common ground playing remixes and edits of house tunes, taking a leafy out of Jeremy healy’s ethos (if it’s a good tune, it’s a good tune so just play it)
After shifting over to do mobile work for a few years he took an interest in production and learning to do Melbourne bootlegs, edits and remixes for friends… some of which can be found on YouTube
Steven was took a couple years out to concentrate on family but when a friend threw an impromptu gig in a field he was lured back to dj’ing this led to him and mates throwing a series of gigs which led to guest slots at other night and from a guest slot at a subb// night at a local club he became one of their regular guests, from doing these guest slots the club owner offered him the residency full time which he held for over 5 years till early 2019, also during this time he won the reloop mixtape Monday competition.
Since then Steven picked up a lot of guest slots at various events and club nights which eventually led to pickin up a residency at a bar along with a guest mix for subliminal selects radio.
Musically inspired by djs like David Penn, Johan S, Jess Bays, Roger Sanchez, low steppa, mattei & omich plus many others.
Taking from these influences Steven’s sets are typically driven by big piano riffs, vocals and great basslines….. Anything goes from deep house, house, tech house to funky soulful, Chicago jacking and classic old school.
