Si manning (fka Si hewlett/ cy hewlett) Not many djs can say they’ve done it all but Si is close after a 30 year career taking in the birth of the south west free party scene ( as a founder member of Funky Vibe ) before the criminal justice bill put an end to that. His first club residency was at club 21 in Watchet at the time of the birth of rave and loved playing that to scooter heads and two-tone fans, some soon converted. Next step was to get abroad to learn more about the music he was immediately in love with, it wasn’t as easy back then so Si went down the routes of holiday parks in the summer and cruise ships in the winter to satisfy his need to make as many people dance as possible. In the year 2000 Si moved to Leeds where the club scene was at the forefront of the uk house scene where Si gained residences at Foxes , Bacchus , after hours as well as guest slots at think tank and the mighty basics! In 2005 Si got itchy feet again and packed his tunes and went off to Spain’s costa Brava gaining various residences along the northern coast. Among them the iconic Pacha as well as rockefellers Loretta de mar. Winters followed in the ski resort of arinsal Andorra at the notorious argentine club Surf arinsal playing alongside such djs as Brandon block , David gausa and David vendetta. In 2008 Si was offered the role of “English resident” at the iconic Pacha in gran canari and stayed 3 years alongside residences at “ paradise lost’s infamous foam parties “ , linekers group, cream & beckhams. Si played alongside such legends as Todd Terry , junior jack & armand van helden. In 2012 Si returned home to the uk and immediately retired due to disillusioned feelings towards clubbing and mental health issues. In 2019 Si dipped his toe back in by taking up a residency on Ruar radio where he soon became station manager and upping the profile of the station with his incredible contacts. He the spent a few months at house music radio before finding a new spiritual home at freshsoundz radio where you can hear him live 12-2 every Thursday. Si still has an undiluted passion for new music and sharing it with people and if that makes people dance then that’s all good. The future is bright with bookings in for festivals, house all dayers and various private parties. He has resurrected the Funky Vibe brand and plans to do events either late 22 or early 23 . He also plans to start his music production career with all his years of experience to help in late 2022 .
